Crush is a programme of groupwork that offers young people the opportunity to learn how to avoid abusive relationships, safely exit existing ones and make themselves safer when exposed to domestic abuse in their home environment. It is a structured programme which offers group support and empowerment for young people who have witnessed, experienced, or are at risk of domestic abuse and but is also suitable for any young people who want to learn more about relationships.
The course is aimed at 13-19 year olds, male and female. It is usually run over ten 90 minute sessions, which allows plenty of time for discussions, a break and refreshments. However the sessions can also be run over 2 full days or adapted to fit in around the young people’s needs. The sessions can be run here at the WISH centre in Blackburn or in other community groups, schools or youth clubs. The programme is delivered by experienced and qualified staff who have extensive knowledge of Domestic abuse and programme delivery.
The course was developed by West Mercia Women’s Aid and you can find out more details about the course content at http://westmerciawomensaid.org/crush#
